He's home!

Our son got home on Friday afternoon. We weren't expecting him until later in the day, so it was a nice surprise!!!

I had texted him to ask what was happening as far as his flight was concerned. At 11:30 a.m. he texted back that he was "on flight, taxiing, gotta go." I excitedly called my hubby, and we calculated that he would be home by 5:00!! Wonderful!

But...I pulled into my driveway at just a little after 1:30 p.m. - and THERE HE STOOD!!!!! Wow! He had texted me as they were pulling into the airport, not as they were leaving!

He had already arranged with his recruiter to pick him up.

Our family has always enjoyed surprises. My husband is constantly thinking of things to do to surprise me. I guess it's rubbed off on our son!! =D

He'll be home for a couple of months. We are so glad he's here...

A Loss

Sad news this week. The 18 year old son of friends of ours was killed in a head on collision. I used to babysit him and his siblings when the family first moved to our area. It doesn't seem that long ago, but it's been a lot of years!

One evening a couple of years back, my hubby and I stopped at a local fast food place - and there he was, working! I was surprised! I told him he surely couldn't be old enough to be employed. He grinned...

My heart breaks for our friends. The death of a loved one is never easy. As Christians, we know we will see them again, and that is wonderful. But there is still grief. And to lose a child. I can't even begin to imagine the hurt!

My son is on his way home. He's been gone since the end of April. We got to see him at the end of June for a couple of days. But now he's heading home.

My arms ache with the need to hug my son...

Please pray for my friends.

Obama and Ayers...what says the FBI?

So many people, Barack Obama included, are trying to say that Obama's friendship with William Ayers isn't important. But I beg to differ. Many of his alliances are questionable, to say the very least. But Ayers was a terrorist, against America, who remains unrepentant. Ronald Kessler has written an interesting article about the anger of some former FBI agents. Here is an excerpt:

"Noel noted that Ayers was a directing force of the Weather Underground. His wife-to-be, Bernardine, headed that organization.

“They were a violent, violent, anti-government, domestic terrorist organization,” Noel said. “Obama has not only associated with those people, he continued associating with racist people like his minister Jeremiah Wright over a period of 20 years. I don’t think that’s by happenstance. It’s just amazing to me. The American people are being led by the nose by people who say this isn’t important.”

Obama claims Ayers is just a neighbor. But the facts show differently. Obama's alliances alone point to the fact that he will be a dangerous president. But many Americans aren't looking beyond his media-created superstardom. Sad.
